How to Create the Perfect Alter Space

Before you create your space

What is an Alter? and what is the purpose of it? is it voodu? These are some of the questions i’m asked when I tell people I have an alter. Let’s start with the first question what is an Alter? It’s a set place where u go and “woosa” the special place in your home that is designated to releasing and receiving energy. Having an alter space allows you the individual to have a direct connection with the divine, however you choose to view the divine. You learn new and creative ways to view situations in your life. Building altars is a positive way to actually do something about those things in your life which may be negatively influencing you.

The connection with the divine is always a good thing. It helps you to have a spiritual center in your life even if you don’t participate in a form of organized religion. However, you can still build altars even if you do; It will still enrich your life.

Creating the Perfect Alter

Creating altars is an art form. Contrary to what some may think, figuring out what to put on your altar in order to garner the results you want takes time, thought and an understanding of symbolism. Maybe you think you can’t draw, paint or even write, anybody can build a beautiful altar. That brings me to one of my most favorite things about creating altars, and one of its benefits; you gain a very large mental library of symbols. You learn colors and their ancient meanings, what animals symbolized for indigenous peoples and many other characters.

 Symbols and Signs

Each symbol and each signs delivers their own unique frequency. Its important when setting up your alter that you be mindful of your alters purpose. Your alters purpose will help you determine which symbols and signs are best for you. Choosing the perfect symbols and signs doesn’t have to be complicated. What I do is follow spirit and I suggest you do the same. There is really no wrong or right way to set up your alter. Remember the alter is your personal space so make it just that.

Whats On my Alter

Just to give you an example my here is a picture of what’s on my alter:

So let me break my alter down, the glasses represent the merging of the subconscious and the conscious. Water is the element  I use in the glass. The fruit is my live offering that I give to show my gratitude. Dollars represents the energy of money I place it only alter for a few weeks then spend it. The candle represents the light within and the sage represents the earth.

Your alter is your personal space so make it how you choose. I Don’t only use my alter to manifest I sit there almost every day and meditate or just to simply show my gratitude and give thanks. but, I ain’t the one to Gossip!
